For beach bums and swimmers

Malta is not a destination for the “typical” beach holiday-maker, simply because there are not that many traditional beaches. But whoever likes swimming and snorkelling will find almost everywhere an opportunity to enter the, mostly, very clear water from a rocky shore; often, there are also ladders so one doesn’t have to climb out over the rocks. The same applies to the entire city area around Valletta – but, unfortunately for swimmers, this is at the same time a commercial harbour where, of course, the water is not always very clean... However, this does not apply for the best part of St Julian’s and St George’s Bay where some of the larger hotels also have their own small private beaches – here; the water quality tends to be better.
